Making Merit: Tibetan Buddhist Art Part 1
Join international artist and educator Roshan Houshmand for a special two-part exploration of Tibetan Buddhist art, motifs, and symbolism.
The series begins with an informal lecture and presentation on Friday, September 18, from 2–4 PM, offering an introduction to Tibetan Buddhist art and the traditions, imagery, and symbolism that inform Roshan’s work.
On Friday, September 25, from 2–5 PM, participants will take part in a hands-on painting and drawing workshop inspired by Tibetan Buddhist motifs and symbolism. Through the creative process, Roshan will explore how working with intention can lead to awareness, mindfulness, and meditation.
No previous art experience is necessary. The workshops are free and open to the public, with space limited to 12 participants. Registration is required, and participants are encouraged to plan to attend both sessions.

About Roshan Houshmand
Roshan Houshmand is an international artist and educator with a multicultural background. She earned her BA from Bennington College and her MA and MFA from Rosary College Graduate School of Fine Arts in Florence, Italy. She studied in New York City with Julio Alpuy of the Joaquin Torres Garcia School of Universal Constructivism and regularly studies traditional Tibetan Buddhist thangka drawing and painting at Shechen Monastery’s Tsering Art School in Nepal.
Houshmand’s work has been exhibited and collected internationally, including at the Boca Raton Museum of Art, the Museum of European Art in Barcelona, Taubman Gallery at Michigan University, and museums and cultural institutions in Uruguay, Italy, and Belgium. Her recent solo exhibitions include Beyond the Physical, Mandalas, and Making Merit.
