Guitar in the Mountains Class Series at Stamford Library – FREE!

Stamford Library is thrilled to announce a brand-new 8-week Guitar Class Series with award-winning musician and educator Drew Azzinaro!

The series begins on Monday, September 22 and will meet for eight consecutive Mondays (with a break on October 13). The program will culminate in a live community performance on Monday, November 17 at Stamford First Presbyterian Church.

Who Can Participate

This program is designed to be accessible and welcoming for learners of all backgrounds and experience levels:

  • Families and multigenerational learners

  • Adults seeking creativity, personal growth, and community connection

  • Youth and young adults interested in music and creative expression

    • Ages 12 and up are welcome to register on their own

    • Ages 7–12 may participate alongside an adult caregiver

What You’ll Learn

Whether you’re a beginner or have some experience, this series will guide you through the essentials of music and guitar playing in a fun, group setting. Participants will:

  • Learn music fundamentals: rhythm, melody, harmony, scales, and chords

  • Explore a wide variety of musical styles—classical, jazz, blues, folk, and contemporary

  • Build confidence through group lessons and collaborative music-making

  • Strengthen listening skills, memory, and focus

  • Prepare for a final recital, showcasing everything learned during the series!

Drew Azzinaro

About the Instructor

We’re proud to partner with Drew Azzinaro, a professional guitarist and educator recognized as “Best Jazz Guitarist” in the Buffalo Jazz Polls (2016, 2019). Drew has performed with artists including Gregg Allman, T-Pain, and Debbie Davies, recorded 12 albums, and teaches music across the Northeast. His teaching style blends technical skill with creativity, making his classes engaging for all ages.

  • When: Mondays, Sept. 22 – Nov. 17 (no class Oct. 13)

  • Where: Stamford Library (final performance at Stamford First Presbyterian Church)

  • Who: Ages 12+ (Ages 7–12 with caregiver)

  • Cost: FREE to participate

  • Capacity: Space is limited to 15 participants. Register early to reserve your spot!
