The mission of Stamford Library is to serve as a community center for lifelong learning, with free and equal access to a broad range of ideas and information through traditional and emerging resources to meet the intellectual, recreational, and cultural needs of area residents in a professional and friendly manner.

24/7 Internet Use
Connect to the library's free wireless network anytime from inside or just outside the building

Computer Use
Access public computers for up to 40 minutes per session by signing in at the circulation desk.

Printing
Print documents directly from public library computers for a small fee per page in either black and white or color.

Copying
Make black-and-white photocopies using the library's patron copier with assistance available from staff if needed.

Faxing
Send outbound documents locally or long-distance using the library's staff-assisted fax machine.

Protect your documents and identification cards with the library's professional lamination services.

The Stamford Library Board of Trustees is building for the future. Our new, flexible, accessible, and sustainable library at 139 West Main Street will be a vibrant community h ub—designed around the needs of today and built to serve generations to come. With expanded space, modern infrastructure, and energy-efficient technology, this new facility will support dynamic programming, lifelong learning, and equitable access to resources for all.
Our Vision
Stamford Library is planning for the future with the construction of a new, purpose-built library at 139 West Main Street. This modern, 6,046-square-foot facility will be flexible, fully accessible, and sustainably designed to meet the evolving needs of our community. With expanded space, energy-efficient infrastructure, and thoughtful design features, the new library will serve as a welcoming hub for learning, connection, and creativity.
Latest Milestone
Site clearing officially began at the future home of Stamford Library at 139 West Main Street, carried out by Boyle Excavating Inc. Following the completion of this work, the site will be secured with fencing and remain enclosed until full construction of the new library begins.
Community Survey
For generations, the Churchill Building has housed the library, serving Stamford and surrounding communities. However, the building is owned by the village of Stamford and the time has come to build a new home which will allow us to meet growing needs with a vibrant, sustainable, and community-centered library. We want to know what you love about the library, what you value, and what we can improve.
